NIRE: The National Institute for Environment and Resources tracer model (Japan)
The global three-dimensional model used in this study was developed by the National Institute for Resources and Environment during the 1993 Fiscal year (NIRE-CTM-93). The meteorological data analyzed at the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF/TOGA/Advanced) are used to transport and convect the minor constituent. Vertical resolution is 15 sigma levels extending from 0.975 to 0.02. Horizontal resolution is 2.5x2.5 degrees. Time resolution is 6 hours. A semi-Lagrangian scheme is adopted to calculate a transport process. A non-local planetary boundary layer is used to convect minor constituents near the surface.
